What is something I can serve with sloppy joes as a side item or appetizer?

What is something that would go well with sloppy joes as a side dish for a birthday party? What could I use as an appetizer? For desert there will be caramel cake and vanilla icecream but I need some things to go with the sandwiches. Any ideas?
